Since its launch, the site has been shortlisted for both Sports Technology and DADI awards.
Initial workshops made it apparent that the club, and their fans, shared a genuine desire to strip back their online presence, moving away from the over-use of ads and in-your-face commercial entities, and putting focus firmly back on football.
A grid based layout, minimal colour palette and large, rich imagery gives the site strong and attractive appearance.
Videos bring a tease of the excitement of the weekend’s action straight to the homepage, and player profiles packed with stats gives fans an ever more detailed look at their heroes.
With a history as rich as Newcastle’s, integrated history modules make it easy to learn about the feats of Jackie Milburn, the glory of ‘The Entertainers’, the dawn of the Rafa era, and all the other legends who have ever pulled on the black and white shirt.
Rich and engaging stats and visualisations bring the action closer, with immersive match break downs, live game stats and integrated player data.
Fans can keep up to date with team news as it is announced, and watch as the team changes during the match in our Opta powered line-ups module.
Based on the needs of the fan we’ve removed complexity, made navigation quicker and easier and improved the overall fan experience.
This has significantly improved traffic: it’s doubled the visitors from the previous site in a like-for-like period. We like that.
